6 Things to do in St.Ives

St.Ives is a perfect British escape with a mixture of vast, golden beaches and a bustling cobbled town. With plenty to do right on your doorstep we though we’d run though our favourites.

Porthmeor Beach

10 minute walk from the B&B

This award winning beach is the most popular with the younger crowd and those who are wanting to get their feet wet. With St.Ives Surf School located right on the beach, the more adventurous types can try their hands at surfing on the beach with by far the best waves.

For the less adventurous the huge beach looks out to the Celtic sea surrounded by the picturesque coast and Portmeor Cafe serves delicious food with stunning views serving breakfast lunch, tapas and supper all year round.

Tate Gallery

10 minute walk from the B&B

Tate St.Ives

The infamous Tate gallery sits beautifully over Portmeor beach. The Tate specialises in British and international modern and contemporary art and with regular new collections it is a mecca for any art enthusiast and that isn’t even touching upon the vast amounts of local art throughout the town.

Tregenna Castle

15 minute uphill walk or 3 minute drive from the B&B

Tregenna Castle sit on the highest point of St.Ives overlooking the whole bay. With stunning gardens and delicious food it’s the perfect spot to nip up for some afternoon tea and scones and appreciate the scenery, or maybe a game of golf.

Kayaking or Paddleboarding on Portminster Beach

3 minute walk from the B&B

Again ran by St.Ives Surf School you can take to the water at Portminter beach and see the St.Ives coast in a whole new way. With options to rent their equipment or take a guided tour around the bay you can go at your own pace and simply enjoy the views.

Porthgwidden Beach

5 minute walk from the B&B

Right next to The Island Porthgwidden Beach is a small tucked away beach surrounded by cliffs. With a cafe right on the beach you don’t need to go anywhere to relax and let the kids play.


3 minute walk from the B&B

With it’s cobble streets fill with boutique fashion, local art and fudge shops galore you can easily loose yourself in some much deserved retail therapy here.
